Shooting an urban fantasy ebook cover

A few weekends back I did a photo shoot for my urban fantasy ebook cover. I had my photographer shoot plenty of images so I’d have not only what I needed for the covers, but for promotional materials and future covers.

Mad shout out to Harry Wilkins Photography for capturing the images.

Above you’ll see me in a vampire assassin sandwich.

Actress and model Danielle Miller (right) took on the role of Adriana Dupre, vampire assassin and main character in the “Shadowdance” saga. She’s also an avid cosplayer, with a portfolio on her Danielle DC Facebook page.

Sabrina Cline (left) portrayed Adriana’s sister Dominique. She’s been at the modeling game for nine years in both runway and promotional. See her portfolio over at Model Mayhem.

Jeptha Lee at Trinity MU Designs provided the hair and make up for both ladies, enhancing their already great looks without losing sight of the menacing vampires lurking underneath. He also helped us with some weapon handling technique. Check out more of his work on Instagram.

Special thanks to Urban Pixel Studios for the use of their space.

All in, it was a four-hour day of nothing but fun as we captured the visual feel of the “Shadowdance” action/ urban fantasy saga, jamming out to the YouTube “Songs that Inspire the Shadowdance” playlist.

More images will slowly appear on the character pages on this site (linked above) and throughout Twitter and Facebook. Stay tuned for more info on when you’ll see the new urban fantasy ebook cover and other content continuing the “Shadowdance” saga.

Again, many thanks to all involved.

New “X-Men: Apocalypse” trailer teases the Four Horsemen

As if you needed a reason to go see “X-Men: Apocalypse” after the stunningly good “X-Men: First Class” and the almost equally as impressive “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” here’s another trailer. This one gives some very brief insight into and highlights Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen.

Psylocke, Angel, Storm and Magneto from "X-Men: Apocalypse" (C) 20th Century Fox

Psylocke, Angel, Storm and Magneto (C) 20th Century Fox

Michael Fassbender returns as Magneto, throwing his lot in with Apocalypse. Younger versions of Storm and Angel fall in line.

Newcomer Psylocke rounds out the quartet, with mad props to fanboy favorite Olivia Munn for looking dead on for the part of he Asian assassin version of the character.

James McAvoy returns as Professor X, and promises he’ll get bald this time (no dirty joke intended). Jennifer Lawrence returns in what she threatens to be her last go as the shape shifting Mystique.

And yes, there will be another (hopefully) mind-blowing sequence with the speedster Quicksilver. (In the Fox X-Men universe, he didn’t get killed off like a punk bitch a la Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”)

Younger versions of Marvel Girl/ Jean Grey and Cyclops will join the X-Men, as well Jubilee.

No sign of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but one never knows with these movies.

And did I mention Oscar Isaac, who killed it in “Ex Machina” and held his own in the mass character drama that was “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as rebel fighter pilot Poe Dameron, is Apocalypse?

I’m psyched. Almost don’t want to see any more so there are no spoilers.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters May 27th this year.
