Batgirl Birds of Prey fanfiction

Batgirl admitted a grudging respect for O-Ren Ishii’s swordsmanship.

The swordswoman quickly had the vigilante on the defensive, each slash of her ninja-to forcing Batgirl to keep her guard up. She blocked blows with her gauntlets, others she ducked under.

Then O-Ren feinted, drawing an opening in Batgirl’s defenses. She turned her back to the vigilante and thrust her blade behind her.

It pierced the vigilante’s Kevlar weaving at Batgirl’s stomach.

For a moment, both combatants stood motionless, the weight of the moment falling upon them. O-Ren broke the silence.

“A twist and I spill your intestines to the floor,” she said. “You will die in minutes without immediate aid. Or, I can pull the sword straight out and spare you a slow death.”

“Third option,” Batgirl said through clenched teeth.

She grabbed the wrist of the hand with which O-Ren held her sword. Her other hand performed a strike against O-Ren’s arm that forced her to release the sword hilt.

Batgirl then backed away from the assassin, whose sword protruded from her stomach.

O-Ren turned to face Batgirl. “Clever girl,” she said. “Clever enough to escape before the bomb goes off?”

Batgirl glared at O-Ren. “What did you do?”

With a smile, O-Ren moved around the corner of a rail car and out of sight. Batgirl took a step to follow, but the pain from the sword still in her torso stopped her.

The vigilante ground her teeth as she took hold of the ninja-to’s hilt, preparing to draw it out.

Black Canary Birds of Prey fanfiction

Black Canary fell backward, but too late. Scorpion’s flames burst from the ground at her feet, catching part of her in the blast.

Her boots took the worst of the fire, partially melting from the heat. Her straight blonde hair frizzed.

Canary hit the ground hard. She immediately rolled, ensuring the flames didn’t light her up.

As she came to a stop, she heard a fierce yell from Sonya.

Canary looked up and saw her ally leaping over the nearby machinery and landing a flying punch to the side of Scorpion’s head.

The masked assassin spun again, landing hard against a nearby parked rail car.

Sonya took up a position between Scorpion and Black Canary. “Enough with the sorcery!” she said. “Let’s do this!” Sonya took up a fighting stance.

Scorpion shook his head as if to shake away the damage he’d taken. He then took several cautious steps away from the car and into the open area.

Sonya pivoted to stay ready for him.

Then Black Canary heard Batgirl over the headset the Gotham vigilante had loaned her.

“Now’s not the time, Sonya!” Canary said.

“I can’t think of a better —” Sonya began.

“Bomb!”

Sonya blinked.

“Get over here!” Scorpion yelled, bringing Sonya back to the fight.

The yellow-garbed assassin charged at Sonya. The Seattle detective parried his attacks, forcing his arms to either side.

Seizing the advantage gained from the opening, Sonya kicked Scorpion in the stomach. He hunched over.

Sonya drew a garrote from her wristwatch. She wrapped it around Scorpion’s neck and twisted.

The detective finished the masked assassin by slicing his head clean off. Scorpion’s body fell to the ground. His head rolled away under a rail car.

Black Canary swallowed. “Was that really necessary?”

The Seattle detective let the garrote recoil back into her watch. She held up her arm to show off the watch, a Hello Kitty! Model.

“I had it made just for Scorpion,” Sonya said. “So yeah, it was necessary.”

Sonya approached Canary and helped the vigilante to her feet. “Now, what was this about a bomb?”

A black and yellow form dropped down behind Black Canary.

“Jesus!” Sonya yelled as she stumbled away from the form. It took her a moment to realize it was Batgirl. “Don’t ever do that!”

“Sorry,” Batgirl said.

Seeing Batgirl’s wounds on her shoulder and stomach, Sonya asked, “What happened to you?”

“We have to move. Now!” Batgirl said.

“Bomb, right,” Canary said. “Let’s go!”

Canary started to run for the rear exit, but Batgirl stopped her.

“No time that way,” the caped crusader said. “Grab on to me and hold tight!”

Canary and Sonya both realized that Batgirl hadn’t let go of her grappling gun when she descended. Its line ran up and out through the skylight.

“You sure this’ll carry us all?” Sonya asked as she wrapped her arms around Batgirl’s neck.

“Just hope we all had light lunches!” Black Canary said as she too grabbed hold of Batgirl.

The Gotham vigilante attached the grappling gun to her utility belt. A flick of a button and the three women began their ascent to the roof.

The rail car from which O-Ren and her ninja had emerged exploded.

Will the ladies get out of the building before it all goes up? And what happens after if they do? Only one way to find out! See you tomorrow!
