Fan fiction by Mark Wooden

I’ve written several fanfiction pieces over the past few years. Even SYFY Wire noticed, making me a Fan Creator.

I decided to list all the fanfiction in one spot so you can find them easily. Each story is broken down into chapters for convenient reading.

Or binge. I’m cool with that too.

The comic book stories are listed in chronological order in their world.

Enjoy!

“Spider-Man vs. the Hulk”

Spider-Man and the Hulk
Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man vs. the Hulk

Peter Parker visits Dr. Bruce Banner. It happens on the fateful day of a gamma weapon experiment that unleashes the Hulk.

This is the shortest of the stories, so perfect to whet your appetite.

“Birds of Prey”

birds-of-prey
Black Canary, Sonya Blade, and, Batgirl team up with a side of Batman and Robin

Detective Sonya Blade and the vigilante Black Canary pursue international criminal Kano to Gotham City.

Batman, aided by Robin and Batgirl, already protects Gotham from the criminal element.

However, they may need help when Kano starts a gang war in Gotham.

“Doppelganger”: A SHIELD Fanfiction

Fanfiction featuring Hawkeye, Grifter, Black Widow and Mockingbird as agents of SHIELD
Mockingbird, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Grifter

Follow Agents of SHIELD Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Black Widow, and Grifter as they investigate a terrorist attack at a science convention. This leads to very uncharacteristic actions by the agents.

But are they really the agents?

My first published fanfiction, so be gentle with me.

“Armored Underworld”

Batman and Iron Man fan fiction
Batman and Iron Man, two billionaire playboy orphans with lots of toys

What happens when a billionaire playboy fighting crime as a vigilante meets a billionaire playboy fighting crime in an iron battlesuit?

Armored Underworld.

Someone steals Starktech from a Gotham City project, bringing Iron Man and Batman together to recover the item.

Batgirl and Black Widow also star, with cameos from the Penguin, Black Mask, Nick Fury, and others.

This one went waaaaaay long, forty or so chapters. But it’s a hoot. I mean, Batgirl hacks Iron Man’s internal AI! There’s a chase down the Vegas strip!

It’s long, but it’s worth it.

“Herald of Darkseid”

Superman, Captain Marvel and Kara Zor-El
Superman, Captain Marvel, and Supergirl all borrowed, so don’t sue!

SHIELD sends a team led by Maria Hill and Captain Marvel to investigate an alien presence on the moon. Said presence identifies herself as Kara Zor-El, herald of Darkseid.

Fury brings in Superman to consult. The Man of Steel makes a startling discovery.

I wrote this one before the Captain Marvel movie, so Carol is more Kelly Sue DeConnick than Brie Larson. Superman is Christopher Reeve instead of a grim-dark Snyder guy.

I also wanted to prove to myself that it is easy to write a story for Superman.

All the writers who say it’s difficult are just pussies.

“Star Wars” fanfiction

star wars fanfiction mark wooden

Set during the Rebellion one year before the events seen in Rogue One and A New Hope.

A Jedi and her smuggler allies are on a mission to recruit a Force-sensitive woman who happens to be an Imperial Security Bureau agent with a vendetta against the Grand Moff of Naboo.

This is the story SYFY Wire noticed and earned me the title of Fan Creator. It’s broken into six episodes. The intent was to honor the serialized adventures upon which George Lucas based Star Wars.

I used the Star Wars role-playing game system from Fantasy Flight Games to help me through.

Judge Dredd Fanfiction

author Mark Wooden as Judge Dredd
(C) EN Publishing and (C) Rebellion Developments

As a kid, I was introduced to Judge Dredd via his crossover with a certain Dark Knight in 1991’s Batman/ Judge Dredd: Judgment on Gotham. I know, late to the party. The character’s been around since 1977, first published in the UK’s comic magazine 2000 AD.

Ol’ Stoney Face stuck with me through the years — despite that dreadful (see what I did there?) movie adaptation with Sylvester Stallone.

I was all in when the folks at EN Publishing licensed Dredd and 2000 AD for use with their WOIN role-playing game. I chronicled a test run of the system in fanfiction with three original judges assigned to clean up after a war in Karl Urban Block. It’s a short one that could lead to a much larger adventure.

One day…

Fanfiction in the Age of Conan the Barbarian

Conan the Barbarian
(C) Modiphius and (C) Fantasy Grounds

While playtesting an adventure for the Conan 2d20 RPG, I wrote it out as fanfiction. This is chapter one. You can read the rest of the story by subscribing to my newsletter!

Here’s the full-length promo video for my action urban fantasy book, Two Sisters. It’s part of my “Shadowdance” series. Don’t worry; it’s under forty seconds but has elements of the three influences on the saga as a whole. Writing is easy. Marketing is hard.
