Ad for action urban fantasy novel "Two Sisters" Amazon presale

Here’s the full-length promo video for my action urban fantasy book, Two Sisters. It’s part of my “Shadowdance” series. Don’t worry; it’s under forty seconds but has elements of the three influences on the saga as a whole.

Writing is easy. Marketing is hard.

Defining a promo video for an action urban fantasy

I’d come up with the tagline comparing Two Sisters to three classic works as part of the promo copy for the book’s back cover and the listing on publisher sites. I couldn’t resist using images from those works in the promo. Figured I’d throw up the shortened version out in the world and then tease a full clip here on the site.

Get those eyes in my house, if ya know what I mean.

Influences on an action urban fantasy saga

Anne Rice’s “Vampire Chronicles” appeals to me for its deep mythology and character interactions. Those qualities drove me to create the depth of mythology and characters for the Shadowdance. I prefer the AMC+ version of Interview With the Vampire to that Tom Cruise/ Brad Pitt whatever it was, so I chose images from there.

Who doesn’t love The Exorcist? People with no taste, that’s who! I’ve seen it over a dozen times, and it still scares the crap outta me. Mad props to director Billy Friedkin and writer William Peter Blatty. I instilled some scares into Two Sisters by pulling at the raw emotions involved.

Bond. James Bond. Loved this series since I was a kid. For a long while, it led as the only action franchise out there. No Mission: Impossible, John Wick, or Fast and Furious without the big daddy, dreamed up by author Ian Fleming.

Sean Connery, the best Bond. Fight me!
Sean Connery, the best Bond. Fight me!

Though Sean Connery is hands down the best Bond, I have a place in my heart for the Pierce Brosnan version seen here.

For Shadowdance, I created action set pieces to get the adrenaline going, never forgetting that character drives that action.

All these influences came together for this promo for my action urban fantasy book.
